Disneyland Trip: Do You Need a Rental Car?

Short answer: if you only visit the parks and stay close by, you may not need a car. If you also want beaches, Los Angeles or San Diego, a rental car can save time and money for a family.
A car makes sense if
- You are combining Disneyland with other Southern California stops
- You are traveling with young kids, strollers and lots of gear
- Your hotel is farther from the parks
You can skip it if
- You stay at or near the resort area and plan only park days
- You use a hotel shuttle or rideshare for short trips
Cost checks before you decide
- Compare parking fees at your hotel and at the parks with the price of rideshares.
- Rent only for the days you leave the Anaheim area if that fits your plan.
- Check free cancellation, mileage rules and insurance coverage.
